The “Computer Graphics Programming in OpenGL with JAVA 2nd Edition” is an excellent book covering current OpenGL programming in Java. V. Scott Gordon and John L. Clevenger are the authors of this book. It is a great textbook for developers comfortable with Java who wish to learn OpenGL. By the end of the text, a developer will have the necessary knowledge to create almost any graphical environment. Industry standard computer graphics techniques and concepts are clearly explained, and each chapter includes code snippets to supplement the material.
If you are interested in all the math that make transformations and projections possible, a very good job at covering this type of material (no programming necessary). Early on, the authors also offer a number of different debugging techniques for OpenGL. A list of exercises at the end of every chapter helps the reader further explore the topics that were covered. The book also has excellent materials for instructors that include advice, lecture notes and others. The authors have made a significant effort to address very minor changes that need to be made to make everything work. All in all, whether you are an instructor, student or independent computer graphics aficionado, this is an excellent book for mastering Computer Graphics Programming.
