The novel ” ” is an enjoyable story that moves along at a good pace. It is not too quickly, but at a pace that keeps the reader engaged waiting to discover the outcome. It has a satisfactory ending which is a little predictable but ties up all the loose ends. Some of the male characters are a little too good to be true but that doesn’t spoil any part of the story. The author switches between the two time periods effortlessly and easily which doesn’t always happen in these kinds of books. Each storyline had a richness that was only strengthened by the comparison and contrast to the other.

“The Mapmaker’s Apprentice (Glass and Steele Book 2)” is a good storyline. Characters developing in a heart-warming manner. C.J. Archer is the author of this interesting book. Another brilliant story by Archer. CJ creates wonderful characters and stories to fall in love with. CJ is a wonderful writer and you can count on all the books being interesting and extremely readable. CJ continues her story of India Steele and Matt Glass in Victorian England in another fast-paced, nicely plotted novel. You’ll need to read the first to be able to thoroughly enjoy this book. The characters are delightful, both main and secondary. The storyline is interesting without needing an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of everything. Once again, the action proceeds non-stop and the attraction between the narrator, India, and her employer Matt grows. But since it takes place in the 1890s, there are no steamy love scenes, which only heightens the feeling. Archer is skillful enough so this book can be read on its own, but it is so much more meaningful if the first one, The Watchmaker’s Daughter, is read first. In this sequel, India’s abilities are explored further as the hunt goes on for the mysterious watchmaker who alone can fix the device that keeps Matt alive. It is thoroughly enjoyable. The whole novel is very upbeat and optimistic. And that’s great. But, it would have been a more interesting read if she talked about any sort of challenges she faced at all. Overall, “The Mapmaker’s Apprentice” is a very cute novel and will make you smile.
